I have entitled this section "woodworking" as I would not insult a tradesman by describing myself as a carpenter or a joiner. I am, however an enthusiastic amateur and armed with my tools can manage most jobs with reasonable aplomb even if things do end up slightly over-built.

The basic requirements for doing this kind of work are a few basic tools - a good circular saw,  a jigsaw, some planes, chisels and a power screw driver. I tend to be very fond of screws as fasteners as they can be more predictably driven than nails and have the advantage of easy disassembly over glue and joints.

Home Office

After considered the options on buying furniture for our home office we had little option but to go for fitted furniture for the home office. Due to the cost of buying this in, I decided to build this myself

The basic requirement was to provide two work areas and enough shelving for our home files and about a thousand books in a space 3.8 metres by 3.5 metres. Some more details on this are here.

Hen Housing

When we got our hens, we did investigate buying a henhouse from a local shed manufacturer. However, at 500 euro, it was little expensive - especially when we knew we were going to want a couple, so I decided to get my tools out. See here for more details
