Kitty the Cat

Ishcus Tamara or Kitty as she is more affectionately known has an excellent line with numerous Grand Champions in her pedigree. She is a beautiful Brown Burmese cat and spends her days loafing about the house—which is just as well as she isn’t allowed out much. Jo's family always had Burmese cats - the first one was Suki, followed by Katinga Brownlow - Kat. Burmese are great family cats - very sociable and companionable. They love to play and will happily retrieve bits of paper and the like. It is commonly advised that they are indoor cats, and Kits does indeed stay inside most of the time, but she will follow Jo to the washing line or on walks around the garden and stay fairly close to heel until Sally the dog comes along - at which stage the nearest tree beckons

Kitty is great friends with Sally the Dog sharing sleeping arrangements as Kits knows the warmest place in the kitchen is Sally.  Kitty's favourite hobby is tormenting Sally - she has numerous methods of doing this generally involving getting Sally to do something that she is not supposed to and hence landing herself in trouble. If only Sally weren't quite so gullible.

She is a great mouser, however as anything caught is brought inside as a gift it can be a race to the door to stop her bringing it in!  She will play with a mouse for hours until either Nora May or Sally comes along. Sally will of course take the mouse straight to the bottom of the garden, thinking it to be a key part of a new game.  She has over-stepped the mark a couple of times when she emptied a swallows nest in the shed and when she caught one of the robins here - luckily Jo got to her and managed to release Rob the Bob who flew away and has since stopped coming into the kitchen - but does still frequent the backyard.

I have since made a rather posh nest for her that is made up of three levels. The bottom level is an enclosed meshed area that will be secure enough for any prospective kittens to come out to play in. The middle level is an enclosed box that Kitty can use to go and hide safe from the attentions of Sally and Nora-May. The top level is again made of wire mesh and is a secure enclosed area where Kitty can eat without having to compete with Sally for the food.
